Discontinuing low-dose aspirin increases risk of cardiovascular events

As per findings of a study reported online September 2017 in the journal Circulation if patients on long term low dose aspirin therapy discontinued the drug in the absence of major surgery or bleeding their risk of cardiovascular events MI stroke or cardiovascular death increased by 37 . Such patients should be encouraged to adhere to aspirin therapy if there is no major surgery or bleeding.
